ShapingBio will organise a workshop titled "Integrating Blue in Green" at Mission Arena 4.
The workshop will present policy recommendations developed as part of the ShapingBio project to enhance cross-sectoral collaboration between the Blue and Green Bioeconomy.
These sectors are particularly critical in the Baltic Sea region, where land and aquatic ecosystems are closely interconnected. However, despite their interdependency, governance frameworks and market structures often operate in silos, limiting cross-sectoral collaboration and innovation.
Governance issues such as the misalignment between the EU Common Agricultural Policy and the HELCOM Baltic Sea Action Plan, or technology transfer challenges like the limited cooperation between seaweed cultivation and forestry-based biorefineries are some of the hurdles the bioeconomy has to face in the region. Through expert presentations and interactive discussions, this workshop will explore strategies to bridge governance gaps and scale up technology transfer between the Blue and Green bioeconomy sectors in the Baltic Sea region.
A part of the Mission Arena 4
The workshop will be part of the Mission Arena 4 in Sopot, Poland, on 28-30 April 2025 organised by the BlueMissionBANOS project and in collaboration with the Sustainable Blue Economy Partnership and the Blue Economy Baltic Forum, and taking place in conjunction with the Blue Economy Baltic Forum and the Polish EU Council Presidency.
The event will bring together regional actors from Poland, eastern Germany, eastern Denmark, and south-eastern Sweden and culminate in the co-creation of a roadmap guiding the region toward achieving the goals of EU Mission Oceans & Waters.
Participants will have the opportunity to discuss key issues in the blue economy in a series of interactive workshop sessions organised by regional projects, institutions and companies.
Past Mission Arena hosted in Amsterdam, Riga, and Gothenburg were attended by a wide range of stakeholders from different regions and sectors, representing all sides of the blue economy
