Workshop

Fostering market development, standards, and demand-side policies for bio-based products

Date: 17 February 2025

Time: 10:30 – 12:30 p.m. CET

Location: online

Bio-based products hold significant promise for advancing sustainable development, yet their market adoption remains a critical challenge. Despite more than a decade of discussions around demand-side policies for bio-based products, their implementation has been limited.

To address these challenges, we are pleased to invite you as part of the EU-funded project ShapingBio, to participate in a workshop designed to assess the current landscape and explore effective actions for the European Union and its Member States to support the market adoption of bio-based products.

This workshop will provide a platform for policymakers, public agencies, organizations, and industry representatives engaged in the bioeconomy to exchange ideas and engage in mutual learning regarding demand-side policies.

The key aims of the workshop are:

  • To learn about current developments and ongoing discussions regarding demand-side policies.
  • To draw insights from successful demand-side policies, particularly the example of Ireland, and reflect on their transferability to other countries and regions.
  • To discuss industry needs and provide recommendations for the EU and Member States to support the further development and adoption of bio-based products.

In addition to presentations, participants will have the opportunity to engage in meaningful discussions and share experiences with peers from various countries and sectors.
